Amanda Oñate-Trules, B.A. 2015

Business Development Manager, Leyline Renewable Capital (Durham NC) - remote from NYC

2015 Major: International Comparative Studies with concentration in Latin America; minors in Spanish and Environmental Science

How has being an ICS graduate from Duke helped shape you personally and/or professionally?

"Being an ICS major exposed me to many different disciplines and ways of viewing the world! I loved learning about different regions and theories across international relations, political science, and cultural anthropology. ICS fostered my interest in international affairs and policy, which drove me to get my masters degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (MA, International Economics 2022)."

What advice would you give students in Duke's International Comparative Studies programs?

"Explore! Take advantage of the interdisciplinary coursework, don’t be afraid to try something new, and push yourself out of your comfort zone."
