• Majors' Union 2012

The ICS Majors’ Union is comprised of three ICS students elected by their peers, two representatives and one alternate representative. These students serve on the ICS Program Committee for one or two years to formally represent the interests of the program’s undergraduate majors. Their responsibilities include attending and contributing to the once a semester Program Committee meeting, coordinating one Majors’ Union meeting per semester, organizing student programming, contributing ideas to improve curriculum and advising, and participating in the selection of faculty members in the program.

During the 2011-2012 academic year, the ICS representatives are Monica Villar, Gaëlle Colas, and Jeffrey Nash. Monica Villar is a senior from Los Angeles, majoring in International Comparative Studies (Europe region focus) and Spanish (Latin America concentration). During her time at Duke, Monica has been actively involved in several music groups, in addition to immersing herself in study abroad and volunteer work. Gaëlle Colas is in her junior year at Duke, double majoring in Romance Studies and International Comparative Studies. Originally from Haiti, her love for traveling and gaining knowledge about the world led her to major in ICS, focusing on Latin America and the Caribbean. She is interested in languages as well as third world development. Outside of academic interests, she enjoys comedy, poetry, and photography. Jeffrey Nash is a junior from Ohio who is double majoring in Spanish and International Comparative Studies with a focus on Europe. His interests and hobbies include graphic design, writing, and soccer; he is heavily involved in extra-curricular activities on Duke's campus.
