Tanya Thomas is a junior ICS major with a concentration in Latin America and the Caribbean. She is also pre-med and pursuing a minor in Chemistry. She is especially passionate about learning about and communicating with people of various cultural backgrounds, and wants to learn French, Italian, and Arabic while at Duke, in addition to knowing Spanish and her native Creole. While at Duke, she has been to San Isidro, Costa Rica on a service trip through a Duke Chapel house course. This year, she plans on joining Family Health Ministries’ student research training program in Leogane, Haiti. Ultimately, she wants to work on public health reform, both in the United States and abroad.
